The relationship of antivirals to Parkinson's treatment
There is a medicine called Amantadine that is used as an antiviral treatment in the body of human beings, through its effect on the neurotransmitter, the most important of which is increasing dopamine in the body.
pharmacological action:
The most important thing is the effect on dopamine?
- It will increase as the neurotransmitter is released in greater quantities.
- Cholinergic receptors are closed so that dopamine remains as long as possible.
- Inhibition of one of the glutamate receptors called NMDA (N-Methyl-D-Aspartate), as this plays an important role in Alzheimer's disease.
Uses:
- It is used because it has fewer side effects and not for its effective benefit, because Levodopa, for example, has proven to be better than it and more effective. We also add that Amantadine will cause tolerance to those who take it.
- If dopamine is originally released in large quantities and there are other problems with absorption and reception, and so on, then this family will not give any tangible benefit in treatment and it is not recommended to give it.
Side effects :
Since the subject was confused in the release of the neurotransmitter and the blocking of the cholinergic receptors, symptoms of CV disease medications will appear, including dry mouth, constipation, a sharp drop in blood pressure, distorted vision, edema UTI, and dryness.
