Multi components of tablets ( surface active agents ) and effect of formatting parameters on tablet quality

1- surface active agents:

They are factors that are combined with the components of the tablet during the manufacture of the tablet from us. These factors contribute to increasing the wetting properties of the hydrophobic tablet.

Advantages of using surface active agents on the tablet:

A) The use of surface active agents promotes an increase in the rate of disintegration of the tablet in the gastrointestinal tract.

B) The use of surface active agents contributes to increasing the wetting properties of hydrophobic drugs.

C) The use of surface active agents increases the aqueous solubility of poorly soluble drugs while the tablet is in the gastrointestinal tract.

A classic example of surface active agents is: Sodium lauryl sulfate.

2- Effect of formatting parameters on table quality attributes:

Physical and chemical properties of the drug and filler: If the drug is soluble in water and a filler that is insoluble in water is placed on it, then the disintegration time will increase, meaning that the drug will take a long time to completely dissolve in the gastrointestinal tract, but if the drug is soluble in water and a water-soluble filler is added to it, then here The disintegration time will be reduced.
