Hardness test:
This test falls under the patterns of unofficial tests (UNOFFICIAL) to ensure quality control of the tablet.
- It is defined by the crushing strength required to crack the disc from the diameter or degree of resistance of the disc to a certain force to which the disc is subjected.
- Of course, there are no standard specifications for each tablet with the same degree of hardness, and they differ according to the factories and the purposes for which the tablet is intended to be given.
- Hardness is measured using a device called a tablet. The hardness of a tablet is measured using pressure and the grains must resist breaking.
- Each tablet has certain characteristics in hardness, so that dissolution and disintegration occur at the appropriate time, so it is somewhat solid and resistant to the hardness test, and it must not be too harsh and somewhat soft according to the components that entered the composition of the tablet.
- All these components are important in the manufacture of the tablet from glues, pastes, sugars, chemicals, glycerin, active ingredient.
- The force is tested with devices that measure the force the tablet is exposed to, either in kilograms or in Newtons, and it is estimated at 4 kilograms, or 40 Newtons, and the more it bears, the stronger the hardness.
