Ways to mix the powder
Mixing is defined as the merging of two or more substances through several means and techniques, so that the first and the last give the same ratio to the components.
There are several ways to mix:
Speculation:
- It is about stirring two or more materials and mixing them with each other to produce a homogeneous mixture.
- It is required that these particles be small in size because the large ones will roll and form forces between the particles.
- The samples are mixed by taking small quantities of each substance that will enter the mixture through the spatula and pulling the samples left and right until the mixture is somewhat homogeneous.
- There will be no sedimentation, and no stimulation of atoms and molecules will occur in the spatulation process, because it is only a drag and there are no flow forces .
Trituration:
- Mortar and pestle are used to mix large-sized materials, often to be ground and mixed at the same time, using tools made of porcelain, or if the mortar is coarse or the pestle is softer.
- It is stirred in a circular motion on the edges of the pastel, and the particles are gradually broken until they become consistent in size, and there may be a chance for sedimentation to occur.
Sifting:
- Effective in light and soft materials. The materials are placed in certain sieves, and these sieves move, and the particles fall off with gravity, and mixing occurs ، It is not very effective to produce a homogeneous mixture .
Geometric dilation:
- This type of mixing depends on the presence of two active ingredients and a dilute substance that forms fluffy. Two equal parts of the two materials are added and mixing begins, and each time certain proportions of the fluffy substance are added to the mixture.
Tumbling:
- The best methods used in mixing materials, whether large or small, are considered to be particle. This process is called three-dimensional mixing.
- The sample is placed in a closed box and is moved from top to bottom right and top to bottom left and so on by turning the whole box over and not shaking it, also called the random mixing process.
- Sedimentation can occur due to mechanical and manual errors during inverting .
