Packaging and storage of suppositories according to the base of the suppository:

Suppositories must be specially packaged and stored because they are considered heat sensitive and can dissolve in degrees and spoil and depend on the basis of the suppository, and they can be classified as follows according to the base of the suppository:

1- cocoa butter based suppository: It should be individually wrapped and placed in a cool, dry place protected from heat and light, provided that the temperature is 2-8°C.

2- Glycerin and glycerinated gelatine based suppository: Such suppositories should be individually wrapped in aluminum foil or strips packaging and kept at room temperature 20-25°C.

3- Polyethylene glycol based suppository ( PEG ): Such suppositories do not require refrigeration as they can be stored at room temperature.

Advantage of packaging molding:

3- It can reduce scraping.

4- Increase production rate.

Labels for suppositories:

1- Labels must include the appropriate temperature at which the suppositories are stored.
