Non selective Alfa and Beta receptor ( Tyramine and Cocaine )

Non selective Alfa and Beta receptor ( Tyramine and Cocaine )

Tyramine ( pharmacological action , uses , side effect , precaution )

 Pharmacological action :

  1.  Tyramine increases the ratio of norepinephrine and dopamine by entering the CNS because it is considered a lipophilic, so it goes to the presynaptic neuron .
  2.  it performs the process of displacement of the norepinephrine that is stored in the follicles, thus releasing catecholamine, after which norepinephrine goes to act on the receptor indirectly .

  • This element is found in aged cheese and increases the secretion of norepinephrine and dopamine .

Uses :

  • Because tyramine increased the rate of catecholamine release in the neural synapse, which leads to an increase in pressure and an accelerated heart rate, so it was not used and is not useful .

Side effect :

  •  It leads to brain bleeding in addition to the headache caused by contraction and rebound vasodilation .

What are the drugs that should not be used in combination with tyramine?

Medicines that inhibit the breakdown of norepinephrine, which increases its presynaptic rate, because it will increase the disturbance and work on its expansion, which leads to an increase in headaches . contractions is increase the heart attacks.

Cocaine ( pharmacological action , uses , Drug-Drug interaction )

Pharmacological action :

  • It is classified as non-selective on alpha and beta receptors, as it blocks the sodium and chlorine channels, leading to an accumulation of norepinephrine within the synapse and will not reuptack.
  •  The accumulation of norepinephrine leads to a feeling of happiness, addiction and dependence.

Uses :

  • It is used in hospitals in simple operations as a local anesthetic, and its use has become rare due to addiction, in addition to the fact that it raises blood pressure .

Recommendations and warnings for use :

  • It is not permissible to use it with norepinephrine or dopamine, because it will cause high blood pressure or bleeding in the brain with a very severe headache as a result of the large norepinephrine ( additive effect).

In the end, there are side effects common to most adrenergic agonist drugs!!!!  For example,

  1.  hyperactivity .
  2.  lack of sleep .
  3.  clash due to vasodilation .
  4.  tachycardia .
  5. tremors .
