Adrenergic antagonist non selective Alfa and Beta blocker Labetalol and Carvedilol
Pharmacological action :
There is no selective between alpha and beta receptors, here
I see vasodilation and therefore the pressure will drop suddenly due to alpha
receptors on peripheral blood vessels and I will have vasodilation .
Uses :
- Both drug :
They work to reverse the effect of the beta
blocker, which causes a primitive contraction when the dose is given in cases
of high pressure in patients, in addition to providing the dose and are used in
certain cases only .
- Carvedilol :
- reduces the fats in the blood vessels that cause a heart attack in the event that the blood was not moving easily, as this drug affects the vessel wall by making it thin to facilitate the passage of blood
- This medicine prevents heart failure and strokes in severe cases, and is not preferred in cases that continue for long periods of time. It is not used in late stages.
- Labetalol:
This drug gives I.V. and is an alternative to
methyldopa, which was used for pregnant women who suffer from high blood
pressure. (clonidine is a good drug for
pregnant women) .
Side effect :
A sudden drop in blood pressure because the effect of these
drugs is considered to be rapid in addition to blocking the alpha receptor .
There are alternatives that are considered useful :
such as metoprolol
and isoprolol, in cases of chronic heart failure, because it is specialized on
the beta-1 receptors that are present in the heart more than the non-specific
carvedilol, and most of its effect affects the alpha .
